Types of Reactive Power Compensation System

  • Reactive power compensation system is defined, the phase angle difference between voltage and currentwaveforms
  • If ,the phase angle difference is high in between the voltage and current the Electrical power loss will go high
  • To , eliminate the power loss in electrical network ;we need to compensate the reactive power as per load requirement so,that this is not ready made product.As per the clients load requirement we need to design the system.
  • Before designing the system ,the complete power quality analyzing has to be done

1. Fixed type reactive power compensation system; This method can be used only in constant load system
2. Automatic Reactive power compensation system (APFC Automatic power factor control system) using by electro mechanic switch. This method can by used at low level variable linear load.
3. Automatic Reactive power compensation system (APFC Automatic power factor control system ) using by solid state switch (Thyristor controlled ) This method can by used for very high variable load.
4. Automatic Reactive power compensation system with passive harmonics filter system (APFC Automatic power factor control system) using by eletro mechanic switch. This method can by used at low level variable non linear load.
5. Automatic Reactive power compensation system with passive harmonice filters system (APFC Automatic power factor control system) using by solid state switch ( Thyristor controlled ).This method can by using for very high variable non linear load.
6. Phase to phase Automatic Reactive power compensation system with passive harmonics filters system ( APFC Automatic power factor control system ) using by solid state switch ( Thyristor controlled ).This method can be used for unbalance three phase load system.
7. Single phase Automatic Reactive power compensation system with passive harmonics filters system (APFC Automatic power factor control system) using by solid state switch ( Thyristor controlled). This method can used for single phase 440 v system.
8. Triple line harmonics filter .Here, we have to use delta to star method isolation transformer.
9. Active Harmonics filter. This can be used where less reactive power compensation require.
